Your body is not designed to fold into a chair for eight hours, and by mid-afternoon it starts filing complaints — stiff neck, rounded shoulders, tight hips. You cannot escape the desk, but three minutes of stretching blunts most of the damage.
The five-move reset
- Neck releases: ear to shoulder each side, hold 20 seconds, breathe slowly.
- Chest opener: clasp hands behind your back, lift the chest, hold 20 seconds.
- Seated twist: sit tall, rotate gently to one side, then the other.
- Hip flexor lunge: one knee down, shift hips forward until the front of the hip stretches.
- Standing forward fold: let the head hang, knees soft, for 30 seconds.
Make it a rhythm, not a rescue
One heroic stretching session will not undo a week of sitting, but a two-minute reset every hour or so genuinely adds up. Pair it with something you already do — every call, every coffee refill — and the habit attaches itself. Your shoulders will notice before your calendar does.
